The Drewry World Container Index is the global reference for container spot rates and the cleanest single number to price against the Strait of Hormuz disruption, the Red Sea reroutes and the Asia-Europe peak season build. The composite was $2,287 per 40-foot equivalent on April 2, 2026, holding steady on Transpacific and Asia-Europe. This is the first non-trucking rate market in the Rig Load portfolio and a natural hook for the maritime coverage the blog has been running through the spring.
